You can choose between a zero or $100 excess for the Accident or Comprehensive plans. A $500 excess is applicable to the Major Medical plan. The excess is applied per condition and not per claim. If your pet has multiple treatments for the same condition, you will only be required to pay one excess in each policy year for the same condition.
Make A Claim
There are 4 simple steps required to make a claim on your policy.
Step 1:
Get a claim form - call us on 1800 668 502 (8.30am - 5pm EST, Mon - Fri). or download one here and print it out.
Step 2:
Fill in your and your pet's personal information in Part 1 of the claim form and sign the form.
Step 3:
Take the claim form to your Veterinarian, and have him/her complete the applicable sections. Ensure your Veterinarian includes his/her Practice details on the attached invoice.
Step 4:
Attach detailed itemised invoices and payment receipts and a full veterinary history if this is your first Accident or Illness claim (no history is required for routine care claims) to the completed Claim form and mail it to us at the address below:

For ongoing treatment, do I need to wait until the treatment has finished before I can make a claim?
No, you don't need to wait. You can make a claim at any time.
How long do I have to wait before I can make a claim?
You can make a claim immediately. All you need to do is submit your claims within 90 days of getting treatment. For illness claims, a 30 day waiting period applies from the commencement of your pet's insurance. A 6 months waiting period applies for cruciate conditions unless we receive a completed Cruciate Ligament Examination form from your vet within 14 days of the examination date certifying that your pet has no cruciate ligament conditions.
How long does it take for my claim to be processed?
Once we receive the documentation your claim will be processed without delay and payment will be made either by cheque or to your nominated account.
What is the most I can claim?
Bow Wow Meow will pay up to 80% of vet fees less the annual optional per-condition excess you have selected(if any), up to a maximum of $8,000 or $12,000 in each twelve month period, depending on the plan you have chosen.
Are there any claim limits on X-Rays, medicines or hospitalization?
No, you are covered for these items up to the annual overall benefit limit.
Do you always need medical records to process my claims?
Yes, please attach only original itemized invoices and payment receipts. This will help us process your claim quickly and accurately. We also require and a full veterinary history with your first Accident or Illness claim, no history is required for routine care claims.
How do I update my contact or payment details?
The quickest and easiest way is to login to our Online Member Services. There you can update your address and contact details, your preferred payment method or banking details, or add an additional contact to your policy. Other changes can be made by calling us on 1800 668 502.
